Strategy
Huntress protects organizations of every size, owning the full path from detection through remediation with a 24/7 human-led, AI-assisted SOC. Their growth has been fast enough that the brand needed to catch up to the company, and the site needed to catch up to both.
Working in tandem with B2B branding agency Focus Lab, who developed the refreshed identity, Wrecking Ball was tapped to extend the brand foundation: global styles, the core components that appear across thousands of pages, and the layouts that define the brand experience.
We approached this as a component-led engagement rather than a page-by-page redraw, which is what lets a refresh propagate efficiently and consistently across a site this size.
As a fast-growing leader in managed security, Huntress needed a brand as sharp as the threats they hunt. However, translating a refreshed identity across a thousand-page site, built on shared components and running against a fixed launch date, meant the refresh had to travel through the system or it would not travel at all.
THE CHALLENGE
A Refreshed Brand, a Massive Experience, and a Fixed Date
The Huntress site runs on Builder.io with a library of highly configurable custom components, a handful of which appear on well over a thousand pages. That architecture is an asset when a brand changes, but only if the refresh is designed to travel through it. A refresh with this much specificity, panel grids, chamfered corners, a disciplined accent palette, does not survive contact with that kind of scale unless the system itself carries it.
Compounding the scale question was the calendar. Huntress had a Summer Summit on the books, their web team was building in Builder.io while design was still in progress, and more than half of site traffic arrives on mobile. Design could not hand off in one final package at the end. It had to release in tranches, correct on arrival, to a team already building.
Guidelines Are Not a System
The Focus Lab brand system defined the identity. It did not define how a hero behaves at a mobile breakpoint, how the panel grid resolves inside an accordion, or which accent color is allowed to carry a button. That translation layer did not exist yet.
Scale Through Shared Components
With single components propagating across more than a thousand pages, redrawing pages one at a time was never viable. The refresh had to reach the site through the component layer or it would not reach it at all.
Preserving What Works
The engagement reskins presentation rather than altering functional behavior. Global navigation, qualified chat, breadcrumbs, attribution, key takeaways, and right-rail CTAs all had to survive intact.
Two Teams, One Clock
Design and build ran concurrently against a hard Summer Summit milestone, with two organizations on either side of the handoff. Deliverables released as approved, not in one final package, which meant the design system had to be right the first time and we had to stay in the room after it shipped.
THE SOLUTION
Brand, Components, and Engineering Aligned for Propagation
Huntress came to Wrecking Ball on the strength of a track record in accelerated UX, UI, and CX design, embedded collaboration with in-house engineering teams, and a decade-plus of B2B and SaaS experience work. The mandate was specific: design the layers the site inherits, and deliver them fast enough that the web team never waits on us.
Global Styles as the Foundation Layer
We built the brand’s color, type, and structural system into global styles that every component and page inherits. One place to define how the brand behaves, everywhere it appears. This is where a brand stops being a reference deck and starts being a system.
Core Component Transformation
We redesigned the shared components that carry the majority of the site, starting with the global header and footer and working down the priority list with the Huntress team. Change the component once, the brand lands everywhere it lives. Every state and breakpoint documented in their own naming conventions, so specs arrived in the vocabulary their engineers already use.
Brand Experience Framework
A full set of page layouts in desktop and mobile, covering the highest-traffic and highest-stakes moments on the site. Home, product, use case, campaign, company, blog, and the variations each one needs. Mobile designed as a first-class deliverable, not a downstream adaptation, because that is where most of the audience lives.
Design Production Optimization
The handoff was a starting line, not a finish line. Organized delivery, design QA against live builds, and standing working sessions with the Huntress web team straight through implementation. When a component hit an edge case nobody had drawn, we drew it that day.
THE BRAND STUDIO
Making the Refresh Livable After Handoff
Inside the Studio
A New Brand World, Built to Scale
Alongside the redesign, Wrecking Ball built the Huntress Brand Studio, a custom AI tool that renders any asset into the refreshed brand look, or generates something new from scratch. The brand rules live inside the engine rather than in a style guide someone has to remember to open. The brand team drops in an image and the studio does the rest.
The system does the heavy lifting. You stay in control of the work.
Every image obeys the Core World, the environments, color language, and camera rules that define how Huntress looks. The studio engineers scene, subject, setting, and style on every render, so output arrives production grade and aligned to creative intent by default.
The tool detects, transforms, and removes artifacts of the previous brand, old color treatments and visual conventions carried over from prior assets. It clears them without disturbing the Core World’s own intentional creative direction, so a file from two years ago comes back looking like it was made yesterday.

UNLOCKING THE REFRESH
Extending the Huntress Brand System
Focus Lab built the brand system. Our job was to make it live on the web. Working closely with the Huntress brand team and against the approved Focus Lab system, we navigated the challenge every refresh faces at the digital layer: the guidelines define intent, but the site defines reality. A brand book can specify a color language and a type hierarchy. It cannot anticipate every breakpoint, every component state, every place where two rules meet and one has to win.
We started with a working review of the approved system applied to live page contexts, then mapped the Builder.io component structure to the design plan in coordination with the Huntress engineering team. That alignment is what turned principles into decisions: which surfaces go dark and which go light, how the accent palette of Arc, Charge, Acid, and Crit gets used sparingly against neutral grounds, how Archivo Black, Funnel Sans, and IBM Plex Mono map from the brand scale onto real elements.
The result preserves the equity Focus Lab built while making the system usable by the people shipping pages every day.
THE RESULT
From a New Brand Identity to a New World in Five Weeks
Wrecking Ball delivered the complete design foundation, global styles, core components, and multiple layouts across desktop and mobile, releasing to the Huntress web team as approved so the Builder.io build ran in parallel from the first tranche forward. The refresh now propagates through the component layer rather than page by page. Both teams are carrying the work forward across the rest of the site as the brand evolution rolls out.

The Art of the Impossible, Made Possible
Huntress had a refreshed brand and a site too large to apply it by hand. By designing the shared layers first, in partnership with the team that built the identity and the engineers who ship it, we turned a brand refresh into a world the site inherits and the AI tooling keeps producing.
This project exemplifies our approach to brand and engineering working as one team across two organizations, where strategic thinking applied at the component layer means the work keeps compounding long after the engagement ends.
