Massive Scale: Delivering Content to 22 Million+ Devices for Charter
When Charter acquired TWC, it chose to renew a decade-long partnership with Wrecking Ball to continue the development of “Crescendo,” a custom-built solution that enables the management, curation, and distribution of all of its on-demand video and image content. This decision was a testament to our ability to deliver a critical platform at an enterprise scale.
Real-Time Data: The AccuWeather SMART TV App
AccuWeather engaged Wrecking Ball to design and build a series of smart TV experiences for DIRECTV, Samsung, LG, and Opera-enabled televisions. The goal was to provide viewers with “extensive, hyperlocal weather data on-demand in a simple, intuitive branded experience”. The resulting apps allow users to add and manage forecasts for multiple locations, view advanced severe weather warnings, and seamlessly switch between the live broadcast and their personalized dashboard, delivering critical information in real time.
The Rescue Mission: Turning Failing Projects into Success Stories
We are often brought in to take over products and platforms from other vendors or in-house teams. These rescue missions are a testament to our ability to diagnose, rebuild, and scale complex systems under pressure, even with limited knowledge transfer.
- Adobe Discover: We were brought in to salvage Adobe Discover after it was inherited from another firm in a state of disarray and with minimal knowledge transfer. Under our leadership, it became Adobe’s 2nd most trafficked website, featured a custom syndication engine to share content with multiple products, and remained a success for numerous years.
- RingBoost: RingBoost’s 20-year-old business was at risk because a newly-launched platform, built by a third party, was failing to scale with customer demand. We were tasked with the critical assessment and rebuild, creating a multi-phased plan to systematically fix issues while implementing new features for growth.
- For Dolby, operational chaos was the enemy. Media delivery operations were fragmented across multiple systems, creating inefficiencies in everything from support ticket management to live diagnostics. This created critical bottlenecks that directly impacted their ability to serve customers, quickly resolve issues, and maintain service quality.
